Yagana gives to RVTH, othersMonday, May 11, 2009 In its continued support to government’s effort in the health sector, Yagana World Foundation for the Poor, last Friday donated medical items worth €50,000 to the Royal Victoria Teaching Hospital (RVTH) in Banjul . The foundation also extended their benevolent hands to the Banjulinding Hospital , who received stretchers, and mattresses, among other items. Yagana World Foundation for the Poor is an organisation based in Holland with an office in The Gambia. The foundation’s areas of intervention include education, agriculture and health. The foundation has been very supportive to people of The Gambia for over nine years. Among the items donated to the RVTH were sets of syringes, uniforms for ambulance drivers and doctors, assorted baby toys, and medical books. Receiving the donated materials on behalf of the Royal Victoria Teaching Hospital management, Babucarr Ngum, Public Relation Officer (PRO) of RVTH, thanked Yagana World Foundation for the Poor through their director, Dine-Marie Langereis, for their generosity. PRO Ngum said these items are very vital as some of them are not found in The Gambia. He commended them on their various activities especially their support to the health sector. Modou Dahaba, a friend of the foundation, expressed gratitude on behalf of the beneficiaries to the foundation and praised them for their good work and support to the poor. Lamin Janneh, operations manager of Yagana World Foundation for the Poor gave a brief overview of their activities and thanked everyone that participated at the presentation ceremony. He saluted Medisize Manufacturing, Care for Care International, and Kenema Hospital who gave the foundation these items to donate to the needy in The Gambia. According to him, Yagana Foundation is preparing to do more than this in the future as they are expecting more items to come. In a similar development, the association of Freetown Secondary School for Girls, led by Hannah Harding, donated a consignment of Flamezine to the patients of the Burns Unit – RVTH. Hannah Harding thanked the staff and management of the RVTH for a job well done and for receiving them. The RVTH spokesperson, Babucarr Ngum, thanked them for the donation to the Unit.
